Security Research Institute believes that space holds great importance in our national security.  While the military and intelligence community both maintain assets for defense communications, navigation, weather forecasting, and reconnaissance, we believe the importance of space to national security transcends the purely military applications of space technology.

The same technologies are critical in the commercial world, and are becoming increasingly vulnerable to attack.  What's more, the technologies developed in the future conquest of space will make important contributions to U.S. economic security and national defense.

No well-rounded discussion of national security is complete, then, without covering the topic of U.S. space policy.
 




 




Lessons Learned from Russian Participation in ISS. The U.S. government--NASA in particular--made a number of mistakes in relying on the Russians for key components of the International Space Station.  Still, international cooperation in manned spaceflight holds considerable promise, provided the U.S. learns from its dealings with Russia.

What can NASA learn from reality TV?  Even as NASA gears up for a return flight to the moon, the agency finds little enthusiasm for space flight in a generation that wasn't even born the last time people walked on the moon. Still, reality television shows such as Fox's "American Idol" and CBS's "Survivor," managed to captivate millions from this age group.  Can NASA take a page from reality TV's playbook?
